Dee battles her way through the Cape Verde Islands

Dee is now ten days into the Vendée Globe round the world race and has been facing conflicting weather models and a messy sea state as she makes her way through the Cape Verde Islands.

Dee has also had encounters with some of her least favourite sea creatures – the flying fish. Despite their unwelcome appearance on deck and the unfavourable winds she has been experiencing, Dee has been taking advantage of the warmer weather to enjoy a shower and hair wash before she enters the hostile conditions of the Southern Ocean.

At 1900hrs on 19 November 2008, Dee and Aviva were lying in 16th place, 50 miles behind Marc Guillemot onboard Safran. For all the Vendée Globe race news and up dated position reports, log onto www.avivaoceanracing.com
